The N-3 range of parkas is a very successful line of cold weather gear from the U.S. Army. From that line comes the N-3B, informally known as the "Snorkel Parka" due to the hood leaving a small "snorkel" hole for looking out when zipped fully up. Intended for use by aircrew members in extremely cold conditions and has seen use in Antarctica.
This recreation of the N-3B parka stays true to the later military designs, with its water repellent nylon shell, lining and synthetic fur hood. For the ECWCS (Extended Cold Weather Clothing System), the N-3B can replace the Gore-Tex parka with liner. Design features such as the synthetic fur lined hood, water resistant coating and storm flap over the zip make this a jacket for very cold conditions. This is a good option if you're looking for a warm winter jacket while sticking to a military style.
