Description

Another fine example of Austrian Army surplus making a perfect segue to civilian outdoor clothing. Like many forces have done, the Austrian Bundesheer derived this jacket from the tried and tested US M65 design. These jackets are dated around the mid 2000's and are still issued to the Austrian military.

The construction is of a durable, heavy weight poly/cotton fabric suitable for rough outdoor use. While the jacket doesn't have internal buttons to support a liner, it's spacious enough for multiple layers to be worn underneath in cold and wintry weather. Much like the original M-65, this jacket features four front pockets, a zipped front with storm flap and a concealed hood in the collar. With it's subdued olive drab colour, timeless M65 design and rugged material, this genuine Austrian combat jacket is a great pickup for hunters and trampers. Or even as a smart-looking coat for urban outerwear, though you won't be taking full advantage of its battle-ready, heavy duty construction.

Features:

  • Genuine Austrian Army surplus
  • Heavy duty poly/cotton fabric
  • Concealed hood in collar
  • Internal buttoned pocket
  • Zip up front with button storm flap
  • Four front pockets with button closure
  • Waist and hem drawstrings for heat retention and a fitted look
  • Button adjustable cuffs
  • Hook & loop name strip
  • Shoulder epaulettes

Highly Satisfied with this Purchase!

Jacket came much better than I even imagined it would look. Completely new. Highly satisfied with it. Very high quality. I can see why this Austrian M65 is getting harder to find online, people have been scooping up these freshly unused quality jackets for being such a great deal. Also, the seller was really helpful, I'd recommend buying this here!

Great Jacket, Website Info Error

First off I wanted to say that initial impressions of the jacket are fantastic. Was really worried about the sizing but it's spot on for this style. Can wear it with more layers underneath and stay very warm while the cotton poly blend is breathable enough you don't immediately start dripping.

However the page got the percentages of the blend the wrong way round. This jacket is a 65% Poly 35% Cotton blend. The label on my jacket is slightly different so the word Polyester is fully spelt out. (35% Baumwolle is the other) I'm not deducting a star because the jacket is everything I wanted, but do keep this in mind if they don't edit the description

This was the first thing I bought from ArmyandOutdoors.I always wanted a decent jacket, this one is so well made- it’s hard to buy quality clothes. It’s actually my best jacket for cutting firewood as the sawdust doesn’t stick to the material- that wasn’t the intended purpose but it does it so well

austrian army surplus jacket

I have been looking for a non-plastic-membrane type of all-weather jacket for some time. Lots of M65 knockoffs and rubbish plastic stuff etc but nothing suitable until I saw this one. Quality build, comfortable and with a double layer construction. I just took it out for a walk in the wind and rain for about an hour. No rain got through at all and I remained very comfortable throughout - none of that horrible sweaty feeling you get with goretex type rubbish. The hood is only single thickness but it let no rain through at all. It fastens nicely around the face and does not hinder vision as it moves with your head. The sleeves are long enough that you can shrug your arms up to keep your hands inside so this works well to keep them warm and dry when the rain is coming in almost horizontally. The pockets are not too bulky which is good as this stops stuff from flapping around all over the place which can happen with the bulky box-type pockets you find on SAS smocks etc. No velcro on sleeves or storm flaps which is hard to find these days - really good as it inevitably gets bunged up with crud or sticks to everything and makes lots of noise when unsticking it. It is long enough to cover your backside and keep your hip pockets dry too. Overall this is a top quality jacket that so far has provided faultless protection against foul weather with the added bonus of remaining comfortable inside, the kind of comfortable feeling you get from natural fibres. A bit on the pricey side (hence only 4 stars instead of 5) however if I lost this one for any reason I would happily stump up the cash for another one. So much more functional, comfortable and durable than all the other Chinese plastic trash that floods the market and I am now looking to see if I can find any trousers in the same material. Buy it, you will not regret it. Plus the colour makes it more user-friendly for social interaction (as opposed to camouflage).
