Uzbekistan adopted their flag in 1991 after the fall of the Soviet Union. The flag features 12 stars which represent the 12 zodiac signs, 12 months of the year and is also considered a symbol of perfection. The number 12 is also an important number in Islam as it is the age a boy is considered an adult. The unique layout of the stars is intended - in Arabic script the stars line up with 'Allah.'

The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
