First issued in the early 1950s, the USAF MA-1 Intermediate Jacket replaced bulky leather flight jackets for improved mobility in jet cockpits. Constructed from water-resistant nylon with polyester filling, it was lightweight yet warm. Worn throughout the Korean and Vietnam Wars, the MA-1 became standard for U.S. aircrews and later a global fashion staple, prized for its rugged functionality and classic military design. This jacket (and the other for sale) do not have the reversible orange lining but subdued sage green, like the exterior. This jacket and the other are from 1987. This jacket is in very tidy condition except for the knit inner neck, where the fabric has come away from the bottom edge (the outer side is still intact) and small hole to the right knit cuff. Very light scuffs to the outer fabric and faint white marks down the left sleeve.
