Description

Jungle boots are a combat boot that was designed for jungle environments, or hot, wet and humid conditions. They have vent holes and a canvas upper to aid in ventilation and moisture drainage. First tested in Panama (Panama Experimental Platoon, ~1942), then WWII and most notably later during the Vietnam war, where they were in their natural habitat.

Enough of the history though, these are styled off the original US Military boots. The quality canvas and nylon upper is breathable yet strong. There is also a metal shank inside the sole. No this is not a James Bond style hidden knife, it's actually for protection from bamboo stake traps or other things that could penetrate the sole. If you're going outdoors, these are the boots you'll be needing.

*Note* These are not the original GI Jungle boots. We do not rate these for military use.

Features:

  • Canvas and nylon upper
  • Steel shank
  • Rubber "Panama" style sole
  • Leather toe, heel and lace area

Sizing: The "W" at the end of a size stands for wide. The US shoe size is a size larger than the UK/NZ standard measurement i.e. US10 = UK/NZ/AUS 9. For more information on boot sizes, check out our sizing guide.

    Rothco Jungle boots

Great online store to purchase from, posted to Australia and delivered in under a week. These don’t come in a box but that’s fine wont hurt them. Boots were decently priced and matched photos and descriptions from Army and Outdoors.

This is the first pair of Rothco branded Jungle boots I’ve purchased. To start this review the boots are oversized. Size US13 is a AUS13. I was previously aware of this so I ordered a US13w and received a US13R, not a huge deal of a difference due to the oversized nature of the boots just a little tighter on my feet.

Here’s just a notice for first time buyers, these are leather boots they are going to be stiff and need to be broken in! I got one blister on my right inner side heel, otherwise with leather conditioner they have softened nicely. The tread is deep and well moulded, and the rubber is high quality. I replaced the inner soles as the factory ones offer very little support or cushioning. My boots are now mostly broken in and feel very comfortable after a few minutes of wearing. The Panama sole has fantastic grip and is also light weight. Once broken in these boots will make running and cross country travelling feel second nature with that lightweight and supportive high laced sides.

If you’re going in expecting these to be like modern work boots that just perform out of the box you’ll be disappointed, but if you go in for what they’re intended for and you are willing to invest the time and maintenance on them, you’ll be rewarded with…

Thanks so much for the incredibly detailed review!

We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with the Rothco Jungle Boots, especially your notes on sizing, the break-in period, leather care and the Panama sole. That kind of information will be really helpful for other customers considering a pair for the first time.

It’s great to hear that after some breaking in and a bit of leather conditioner, the boots have become comfortable and are giving you the grip and support you were looking for. And we’re glad the boots arrived safely in Australia and that you were happy with the overall service and delivery time!

Thanks again for shopping with Army & Outdoors and for leaving such a thorough and useful review. We hope the boots serve you well on plenty of adventures to come! 🥾

    Fast shipping

The parcel took only four days to get to Brisbane good and quick service. The web site has a large variety of products at fair prices ,well done. I originally had a pair of these boots and used them whilst I was serving in the Army during the early 1980’s, they are still going strong even now after many adventures and much tough love. So when I saw these on line I was pleased and thus checked the manufactures website to find information pertaining to these boots. So after examining the information I purchased a pair of the boots. They look the fairy similar to my original pair but the quality is somewhat different from the US military grade of footwear. More reinforced stitching plus the steel plate is from the front to the back of the boot. In the write-up mention is made that they are not military grade. I later noticed that the manufacturers USA web site list all their footwear as being made in CNA ( China). This is not always a bad thing perhaps just different that the original USA made boots. My original pair are size 12R so if you are choosing a pair my estimation is that they are about 2 sizes bigger and also very broad in fit. Also I noticed that the height of the toe box much higher(see attached photos) So I have added a photo of both my original US issue boots and the new pair. So I you are buying them perhaps measure your foot and send a request to double check size. I’ll try a size10w and see how that goes. I must admit ordering online makes things a little more…

    Solid boots for the price.

    Absolutely worth the money

Solid construction, the only downside they are a tad uncomfortable in the sole, not a lot of give. Surprisingly quiet even on wood and concrete, Solid 9/10

    Excellent Boots

Great boots found them quite comfy even if they were a little painful to break in, found them great this summer as well for keeping me feet cooler on walks thanks to the drainage holes, but sadly after only owning my about 6 months I already need to replace them due to wearing em through the top sole of the right boot.
