The Cook Islands adopted their current flag in 1979. The stars represent the 15 islands that make up the nation. The flag also features the Union Jack as a symbol of the nations historic ties to the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. 

The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
