Description

A gruntier jacket than the lightweight version and this one has a hood!

These British Army waterproof jackets are made from MVP, the Moisture Vapour Permeable material, very similar to Gore-Tex. These jackets are a thicker, more robust MVP fabric than the lightweight version, have a stowable hood and have two chest pockets. The seams are tape lined and full front zip is protected with a storm flap. Draw strings to the bottom hem and hood rim keep the jacket secure in really foul weather.

Features:

  • Genuine British Army surplus
  • Robust MVP outer
  • Stowable hood with draw cord
  • Internal seal tape lined seams
  • Full length front zip opening with storm flap
  • Draw cord bottom hem
  • Rank insignia tab on the chest
  • Hook & loop adjustable cuffs
  • 2 chest pockets

Sizing: The first number is the chest circumference, the second size is the recommended height of the wearer. A "96/170" will fit a person around 170cm tall with an 96cm chest size. For more information on jacket sizing, check out our sizing guide.

If I could rate this 10/5 stars I would!

This has easily been the best rain jacket I have ever got, it is amazing!

I got it for South Island weather and it has been perfect. It is water and wind proof and will keep you very cosy with a wool jersey underneath.

This is easily MUCH BETTER than any commercial Gortex raincoat that you would get at Hunting and Fishing, Kathmandu, or any big outdoor clothing brand.

One of the best purchases of my life!!

    British MTP MVP Rain Jacket

I purchased a British MTP MVP Rain Jacket (large 104cm/ 170cm). I am 167cm tall, 75kg, with a 105cm chest. The chest, arm length and jacket length are perfect. It is quite wide around my middle section without any layers underneath, however, with a jacket underneath it fits great.

The only con is a mark that looks like a cigarette burn on the collar, that is hidden by my neck when I wear the jacket.

    Great value jacket

Just took delivery, was very pleased with the condition. It’s a generous fit around the chest, but that is OK. Really like the high pockets on the chest for wearing with a pack, they will easily hold a map etc. Hood is great, being both generous and folding back into the collar. Frankly, this is almost a perfect bushwalking/hiking jacket - if only it was a couple of inches longer to keep the water off the hems of my shorts (that is a very mild criticism). I have no idea why you would buy new for half a grand or more.

    Excellent condition and performance

I am 104/186 cm and ordered the 104/190 cm size. The jacket fits very well and comfortably accommodates a thick swandri underneath. Arm length is spot on, and the jacket length sits at the top of the thigh.

The hood is generously sized—large enough to wear a baseball cap underneath, which helps keep the hood out of the eyes and fully covers the peak. It also features a wide, effective storm flap.

In my estimation the condition is essentially brand new, or at the very least it has never been worn outside—no signs of use and no name written inside.

I tested it on an uphill walk in the rain and it performed exceptionally well: no overheating and water beaded perfectly.

Overall, an outstanding purchase and excellent value when compared to high‑performance jackets found in retail stores.
