Zimbabwe adopted their flag in 1980 when they achieved independence from Britain. The bird symbolizes the history of Zimbabwe, while the star under it is said to represent the nations aspirations, it is often thought it stands for socialism and the revolutionary struggle for freedom and peace.

The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
