Description
Nauru adopted their current national flag on their first day of independence in 1968. The main design element is centred around the gold stripe - it represents the country's position of 1 degree south of the Equator. The blue background stands for the Pacific Ocean. The country of Nauru itself is represented by the 12-pointed white star. Each of the points on the star represents an indigenous tribe of the island.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
