Description
Laos' current flag was adopted in 1975 when it became a socialist state. The current design however was designed from a non-socialist background. It first came into existence by an anti-French movement at the end of World War 2. It is currently the only communist country that does not use a five-pointed star as an emblem.
The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
