The flag of Ireland is frequently referred to as the Irish tricolour. It has a vertical tricolour of green, white and orange. The colours represent the Gaelic tradition of Ireland and the followers of William of Orange, the white represents the aspiration of peace between them. This flag was adopted in 1922.
