Military units commonly modify their boonie hats by cutting down the top and brim, keeping it out of their eyes and making them low profile. Often you will see these soldiers crimping or stitching the front to form a little peak. 

These modified jungle hats have all kinds of clever modifications to get that low profile. But in doing so, they are almost all different! Some have external stitching, some could have done with a few extra lessons but they all have unique character. Where brim edges have been cut down and left raw, these will be tidy and not too frayed. Many hats have eyelets for ventilation and inner tabs to add a chin strap, though because every hat is different, these may be modified too!
