The Dominican Republic's flag was adopted in 1863. The coat of arms and the national anthem have centre stage of the flag as the national symbol. The white on the flag stands for salvation, the blue stands for liberty and the red for the blood of heroes.

The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
