A genuine issue naval hat of the Deutsche Marine, the current navy of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). Apart from the newer materials and modern insignia, the design is virtually unchanged since WWII, when the Kriegsmarine wore such caps. This cap is of a Junior Officer, higher ranks would display gilding across the visor.
An iconic naval hat made with a white gabardine top, and a black headband, visor and chinstrap. The interior features a leather sweatband with a mild amount of foam padding a plastic lining to retain the shape. On some caps, this lining may be warped out of shape due to storage conditions. The insignia features a gold anchor, surrounded by gilding with a red and black cockade above. This is a fine piece for a collector of naval surplus. Or use it as part of a costume for reenactments, film and photo.
